John Bevan, President of the Board of Clarion Concerts in Columbia County, was among the recipients of an Achievement in the Arts Award granted by the Columbia/Greene County Council on the Arts. The awards were given to a varied group of organizations and individual artists in music, theatre, dance, the visual arts and many other forms of informal and civic artistic endeavors. Each of the awardees had submitted a successful grant application to the New York Council on the Arts (NYSCA). NYSCA in turn, distributes funds annually to local arts councils for re-distribution on a competitive basis. Each year the amount of dollars requested is twice that of the amount available. The 2017 funds will be used for partial support of performers’ fees at the September 23 concert to be held at St. James Catholic Church in Chatham featuring the Jasper Quartet with Eugenia Zukerman.
